Charles Delaney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 6, 2026.
Charles Edward Delaney was born in Saltillo, Tennessee, on Sunday, January 26, 1936, the fourth son of Charles Allen and Jocie Lee Pearson Delaney. He was welcomed home by his three older brothers, James Ray, Ira Lofton, and Robert Allen. They all worked hard on their farm and were known near and far as a resourceful family who were willing to help others in any way that they could be of service, a trait that would follow them all of their lives.
Edward attended Saltillo School from grades 1 through 12, and after graduation, he went to Houston, Texas, were he worked on the docks, loading and unloading the huge ships that came into the ports. Most of the men who worked there were large, burly guys, and here was Edward weighing barely 130 pounds, but they soon discovered that he was a determined hard worker capable of moving lots of freight which earned him the nickname of "Big Ed."
Edward married Betty Farr on May 11, 1973. They were married almost 47 years before her death on January 6, 2020. Although they did not have children of their own, they adored their nieces and nephews: Kay, Ricky, Gary, Ruby, Lee, Gina, and Sharon. Edward enjoyed flying airplanes, working with computers, traveling, serving on mission trips, and working with cattle on his ranch. He had an adventuresome spirit and lived life to its fullest.
Edward departed this life on January 5, 2026, just 21 days prior to his 90th birthday. Preceding him in death were his parents, all of his brothers, his wife, and one niece, Sharon. "Big Ed" was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
