Charles DeWalt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alexander Funeral Home, Inc. - Millersburg on Jun. 23, 2025.
Charles S. DeWalt
Charles (Chuck) S. DeWalt, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21st in Pomerene Hospital.
He was born to Samuel and Betty (Johnson) DeWalt on February 25th, 1939, in Pomerene Hospital.
Chuck grew up in Benton and Holmesville where he spent his early years playing with friends and exploring the countryside from Berlin to Holmesville. He was a 1958 graduate of Millersburg High School and also attended Tri-State University in Indiana.
Chuck was employed as a builder with Krieger-Starker Construction and later served the West Holmes School district in the maintenance department. (He knew where every cook in the district hid their cookies!) He made many lasting friends among the school staff. Chuck was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and designing. He was a skilled craftsman, building a variety of projects including an elephant bouncy toy from an old tire and rocking horses that were as stout as any draft horse. He also designed and drew plans for a number of homes and buildings in the area.
He loved traveling, from his youth until a few years ago. He especially loved traveling with his "bus buddies." He saw much of the United States.
Chuck was a kind and loving soul who will be missed by friends, neighbors and relatives. He was a life long Lutheran and a faithful, devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church of Millersburg.
He is survived by an aunt, Pat Grant of Lodi, an uncle, Tim Johnson of Lucas and a number of cousins. He will also be missed by his many neighbors, friends, and his church family.
He would want a special thanks given to the doctors, nurses and aides at Pomerene Hospital for the kind, loving, and compassionate care he received in his final days. You truly eased his passing.
Remembrances can be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, 187 South Clay Street, Millersburg, Ohio 44654.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday June 25, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Jeff Scott officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio.
