Charles Dollar Obituary
Charles Gary Dollar, Sr., age 69, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
He was born in Lee County on February 13, 1954, to the late Charles Arfue Dollar and Mae Foster Dollar. Gary retired with 20 years of service from the City of Sanford Fire Department. He was an active member of First Congregational Christian Church. Gary enjoyed weekly trips to the Habitat for Humanity store and fishing.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Libby; children, Melissa Dollar and companion, Freddie Bowling of Carthage, Gary Dollar II and wife, Meagan of Lemon Springs, Jeremy Dollar and wife, Ashley of Sanford and Brittany Dollar of Carthage; sister, Peggy Dilworth and husband, Joe of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Carlee, Hunter, Mason, Haylee, Chandler, Penelope and Ashton and a sweet bundle due in May; one great-grandchild, Kolton; nephew, Matthew Dilworth of Sanford, two special friends, Randy Matthews and Rodney Rosser and his Sanford Fire Department work family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at First Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Robert Thomas and Father Craig Lister officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
