Charles Dooley Obituary

Charles Richard Dooley was born on January 1, 1934, and went to his eternal home with the Lord on August 30, 2025. He was 91 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Carole Mayes Dooley, his three beloved daughters, Debra McCammon and husband, Joe, Donna Willingham, and Denise Ansley and husband, Tom. He dearly loved his six grandchildren: Kelly McCammon Ottesen and husband, Vegar; Amanda McCammon Clements and husband Jared; Nathan Willingham and wife Misti; Stephen Willingham and wife Ashley Miranda; Ashley Ansley Jarrell and husband Brent, and Amber Ansley Halverson and husband, Brandon. He was so proud of his 14 great-grandchildren: Edmund & Arthur Ottesen, Jalen & Jett Clements, Maci, Grace & Reese Willingham, Easton & Lainey Willingham, Joshua & Luke Jarrell, and Henry, Hudson, & Heidi Halverson.

Chuck, as his friends called him, had a difficult childhood. Despite all the challenges, he chose to rise above what life had given him by being a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He lived for spending time with his family and loved family events. His favorite holiday was New Year's Day – since that was his birthday. Every year on January 1st, all the family gathered to celebrate his birthday. He loved every minute. In 2023, Debra, Donna, Denise, Joe, and Tom took he and Carole to Branson to celebrate his 90th birthday. At every meal out, the waiters sang happy birthday and gave him a birthday dessert. It was such an amazing time for him.

As a young adult, Chuck was active in a number of sports including pitching for the church softball team, bowling on the church team, and playing golf with his sons-in-law. He liked staying active and stayed active throughout his life. In fact, he fell while exercising, preparing for a Branson trip to celebrate Carole's 90th birthday. He had enjoyed his trip so much that he asked his girls to put together a similar trip for their mother.

Chuck lived for Jesus every day of his life. He was a prayer warrior for his family and others, and he shared his faith every time he had a chance. The number of people that are in heaven today and those that will spend eternity in heaven because of him cannot be numbered. We take comfort knowing that the moment he entered paradise hundreds of people were there to greet him, including his son-in-law, Terry. He was a special man and is already missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, at Rutledge Cemetery, Poteet. A Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 6:00 pm, at First Baptist Church, 600 N. Main St, Conroe, Tx 77301. Visitation with the family will follow.
