Charles Eakes, 76, of Pencil Bluff, AR, passed away October 29, 2025, at home with family by his side. He was born on December 14, 1948, in Greenville, NC to Evelyn Eakes. Charles is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Eakes, brothers Bruce Strickland, Butch Strickland, Rusty Strickland, Greg Strickland, sisters Janice Genton, Wanda Strickland and a very dear special friend Mary Ann Damazio.
Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years Deborah Eakes, daughters Shannon Royce and husband Greg, Patricia Lankford and husband William, son Charlie Eakes and two bonus daughters Makayla Eakes and Michelle Barnett, grandchildren Kurstyn McDougal and husband Nick, Dalton Royce and wife Tina, Garrett Lankford, Logan Royce, Austyn Lankford and wife Morgan, Caleb Lankford, Brandon Lankford and wife Miah, Cameron Lankford and wife Esmi, Breonna Lankford, Gavyn Lankford, Casen Eakes and Eli Eakes, great grandchildren Landyn Royce, Reagan Royce, Riley Royce, Jaxon McDougal, Slade Lankford, Zoe Lankford, Kolbie Lankford, Zaxbie Lankford, Kambre Lankford, Danielle Lankford, brother Jerry Strickland, sisters Gale Moore, Pamela Boyer, two bonus grandchildren Rylee Starr and Paityn Starr, nieces, nephews, special friend Greg Pate and a host of other family and friends.
Celebration of life will be November 15, 2025, at 2pm at his home 4063 HWY 270 W, Pencil Bluff, AR 71965. Arrangements under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com.
