Charles Edwards Obituary

Charles S. Edwards, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 49 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on September 1, 1976, in Rochester, New York, Charles lived a life filled with love, passion, and dedication.

Throughout his career, Charles worked as a Lab Tech for Vision Works at Doctors of Optometry which. He later worked as a Debt Collector at United Collection Bureau, a position that showcased his diligent, determined work ethic, and he enjoyed helping his customers. His commitment to his profession mirrored the dedication he showed to his family and friends.

Charles was a proud graduate of Fairport High School in Fairport, New York, where he laid the foundation for a life enriched by learning and personal growth. Beyond his professional pursuits, he was known for his vibrant personality and diverse interests. He found joy in video games, passionately cheered for the New York Yankees, and followed the New York Giants with unwavering loyalty. Music was another cherished aspect of his life; he relished attending concerts and sharing these experiences with loved ones.

Family meant everything to Charles, and he spent countless joyful moments with his family from New York and his dear friends. He is survived by his son, Jayden Edwards; his father, Chuck (Florence) Edwards; his brothers, Rich (Terri Smathers) Darcy and Sean Edwards; his mother-in-law, Scharley Carter; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who will all miss him dearly.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Edwards; the love of his life, Elisha Batman; and his aunt, Mary Kelkenberg. The legacy he leaves behind is one of strength, kindness, and the importance of cherishing moments with those we hold close.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN. Visitation will commence at 11:00 AM, leading into the funeral service at 4:00 PM.

As we remember Charles, let us celebrate his life, his passions, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
