Charles Erdelt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Triska Funeral Home - El Campo on Sep. 15, 2025.
Charles (age 84) was born to Mary (Dettling) Erdelt & Henry Erdelt on September 16, 1940 in the small community of Plainview, Tx near Hillje and Louise, Tx. He attended first grade there and then the family moved to Wharton where he attended Holy Family Catholic school and then Wharton schools. He worked for Caney Valley Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, and South Texas Medical Center in the Lab and X-ray departments for over 45 years until his retirement in 2009. He was an accomplished woodworker and could do anything he set his mind on doing. He was always inventing things at home for fun and to make things easier. On September 19, 1964, he married Marie Ann (Mary Ann) Holub in St. Procopius Catholic Church in Louise, Tx. They were blessed with a son Glenn Erdelt on July 31, 1965. They have one precious granddaughter Lacey Reese (Joey) from Austin, Tx. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Henry, brother Norbert Erdelt (JoAnn), sister Joyce Gerard (Louis) and youngest brother Don Erdelt. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, Son Glenn Erdelt, granddaughter Lacey Resse (Joey), sister-in-law Mary Agnes Erdelt, several nieces and nephews, and his loveable cat Kitze. He died at his residence with his love ones by his side. He will be greatly missed. He managed many health complications during his lifetime, but he always handled them with courage and faith. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral Mass following at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Samuel Appiasi. Private burial services will be held with the family. Memorial donations in memory of Charles may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or donor's choice.
