Charles 'Bud' Erickson

Charles "Bud" Erickson, age 83 of Hibbing, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Hibbing Hospital.

He was born May 16, 1942, to Oscar and Margaret "Peggy" (Kearney) Erickson in Hibbing. Bud was a 1960 graduate of Hibbing High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in October of 1966 after 4 years of service. Bud enjoyed working with his hands; he worked with sheet metal building bodies for racecars. On August 1, 1985, he was joined in marriage to Maryann Vizenor they enjoyed 40 years together. In his younger years, Bud took care of his grandma and later his parents. He helped numerous people working on furnaces over the years, a skill he picked up from his father. Bud was a member of the original Squires Car Club; he enjoyed morning coffee at Sportsman's with his friends. Bud is survived by his wife, Maryann Erickson, stepson, Patrick (Mary) Vizenor, numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ada Marie Erickson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Mid-Range Honor Guard will accord military honors. In lieu of memorials to the family, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, or an Alzheimer's or Veterans organization of the donor's choice.
