Charles Fate

Charles Calvin Fate, 87, a 52-year resident of Davidsonville, MD, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Crofton, MD surrounded by his family. Charles was born on November 16, 1937, in Salisbury, PA to the late Harry and Ruth Fate. In the 1960's he worked for John Dufife Builders and Carl Freeman Construction. He later started his own construction business named GMP Corporation (these initials stood for his children's names), where he retired from. He was the former President of the Lions Club. A lifelong Redskin fan, he also enjoyed hunting with his sons and close friends at their Ratland property, in Cumberland, MD. In addition to this, he enjoyed many other travel adventures such as hunting in the Midwest, New England, and Canada. He also loved traveling the world on various cruises with his wife and close friends. Charles loved to play poker, and would win the pot every time! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of seven years, Dixie Lee Hutzell Fate, his wife of 44 years, Peggy Jean Lipford Fate, and his siblings, James Fate and Evelyn Whitmore Stevens. He is survived by his children, Gregory Charles Fate (Karen) of Lothian, MD, Matthew Ross Fate (Tricia) of Odenton, MD, and Peggy Jean Fate-Stark (Robert) of Denton, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan Fate (Kelsey), Logan Fate, Kayla Fate Collins (Britt), Ali, Emma and Riley Belote, and two great-grandchildren (Adley and Drake Collins). Family and friends are invited to celebrate Charles' life on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 from 10 am until his funeral service begins at 11 am. Interment to follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a local Hospice organization of your choice in his name.
