Charles Ray Fox was born on May 16, 1951, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the late Jerry "Jr." Fox and Sally Houston McWilliams Fox. He departed this life peacefully at his family home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Charles attended Booker T. Washington School and later graduated from Philadelphia High School, where he was an active member of the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams. According to his own stories, he was quite the athlete.

On April 29, 1972, he was united in holy matrimony to Catherlean Monroe in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Their union was blessed with two daughters. Charles was an exceptional father and a devoted husband, always placing his family first.

In 1975, he moved to Moss Point, Mississippi, where he began his career at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a welder. During his 37-year tenure, he served as a supervisor, earned multiple recognitions, and took pride in mentoring younger welders who followed in his footsteps.

Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was a loving and dependable family man, affectionately known as "Uncle Charles" and "Book" by those who knew him best. His kindness, humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry "Jr." Fox; his mother, Sally Houston Fox; brothers, Hulon (Evia) McWilliams and Willie Jay Fox; sister, Kathy Devette Fox Buckley; his brother-in-laws Levell Stribling and Lonnie Triplett; and best friend Willie Earl Baxter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Catherlean Fox of Moss Point, MS; two daughters, Keena (Bernard) Butts of Ridgeland, MS, and Kami Fox of Moss Point, MS; one granddaughter, JaMecca Butts of Hattiesburg, MS; two sisters, Helen Stribling of Southfield, MI, and Emma Martin of Canton, MS; one brother, Bobby Joe (Maria) Fox of Southfield, MI; and a devoted aunt, Dorothy Stribling of Philadelphia, MS.

He is also survived by devoted in-laws Charles "C.H." Monroe and Mary Helen Sherrod of Moss Point, MS; Gloria Faye Triplett of Pascagoula, MS; Hubert Monroe, James (Alice) Monroe, and Domeca (Harold) Coburn of Philadelphia, MS; devoted friends Jimmy Lee (Sabyna) Shannon and John Allen Black of Philadelphia, MS; devoted nephews Kevin Triplett of Moss Point; Demarious (Keniqua) Monroe of Leaksville; honorary grandchildren Cameron Kelly, Kaiden Cunningham, Chance Cunningham of Leaksville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Charles will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his hard work, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
