Charles Ray Franklin, affectionately known as "Bubba," was born on February 28, 1953, and departed this world on October 12, 2024. A soul whose presence could fill a room with both warmth and wisdom, Bubba channelled his passion for athletics into a life well-lived that inspired many younger generations.

From an early age, Bubba showed remarkable athleticism, harnessed first on the playgrounds where friendships were forged and aspirations ignited. His fervor for sport translated into significant accomplishments, including a full football scholarship from Angelo State University—an achievement he wore as a badge of honor. Bubba's journey in sports continued as he found himself on the practice squad of the New York Jets, an experience that deeply enriched his understanding of the game he loved.

Beyond his impressive athletic achievements, Bubba dedicated much of his life to nurturing new talent. He coached high school football and tennis, as well as returning to Angelo State University as a running back coach. With each whistle blown and instruction given, he shared not only skills but also a philosophy of hard work, determination, and resilience.

As a proud business owner of Green Thumb Landscaping, Bubba sowed his knowledge into his community, transforming ordinary spaces into verdant oases. His steadfast work ethic reflected his personality—stern yet stubborn, a combination that endeared him to clients and followers alike. He understood the value of responsibility, both in business and on the field, guiding those around him with a steady hand.

Bubba's interests extended beyond the realm of athletics. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: immersing himself in the tension of a basketball or football game, savoring the classic tales told through Western films, and gathering friends around the grill for barbecues that bore his own creative touch—a grill ingeniously forged from a refrigerator. Music—especially the soulful strains of R&B and smooth jazz—filled his home and lifted spirits.

His Celebration of Life service is scheduled for October 26, 2024, at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas in Texas, a fitting tribute to the man whose influence shaped so many paths and whose legacy will undoubtedly echo through the stories of those he touched.

In the hearts of all who knew him, Charles Ray Franklin will forever remain a beacon of love and a monument of strength—his legacy intricately woven into the fabric of their lives.
