Charles "Chuck" Lindberg Garris was born on August 29, 1935, in Monroe, NC and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He passed away on September 18, 2024. His 89 years here on earth was dedicated to giving of himself to others. Charles Garris carried an attitude of thankfulness and gratitude. When asked "how are you doing today?" he always responded "Fantastic!" People were naturally drawn to Chuck because of his charming disposition and positive outlook on life.
As a young adult, Charles worked in the US Airforce and continued his career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked for AT&T as a District Account Manager. He retired in Gainesville, FL where he was an active member of First Christian Church and volunteer at multiple organizations in the community. He was an adult Sunday school teacher, an elder, deacon, choir member, and helped with maintaining the church. He loved working outdoors in his home garden and had an excellent green thumb as he cultivated much produce and flowers.
Charles leaves behind his wife: Angeline; children: Charlie, Robin, Gail, Colin, and Paul; grandchildren: Kristal, Jon, Josiah, Isaiah, Sonya, Aidan, Gianna, and Adam, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nilea.
Charles' legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and community will forever be remembered by all who knew him. He will always be remembered with warmth and love in our hearts.
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matthew 25:23
