Charles Gordon Obituary

Charles E Gordon, age 83, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Centennial, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Linda of 60 years and his daughters, Meredith and Kristin. Charles was born in 1942 on small farm that backed up to Camp Claiborne in Louisianna. He graduated from Forest Hill High School and then went on to put himself through and graduate from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.

Immediately upon graduation, Charles enlisted in United States Air Force. With help from his mother, he purchased his first car and proceeded to Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington to begin his 20-year career. It was at Fairchild that he met and married his wife by being her Escort as The Armed Forces Day Queen. Charles’ Air Force Career centered around the SAC/Minuteman Missile Program and later the MX Missile Program. One of his memorable achievements occurred in 1970 when his missile crew from Ellsworth AFB competed at The Olympic Arena Missile Combat Competition. He and his crew not only won but posted the highest score ever achieved at this tournament.

After leaving the Air Force, Charles continued in the Aerospace Industry which brought him to Centennial, Colorado, and where he lived for the past 40 years. Before officially retiring, he greatly enjoyed working at The Nordstrom Rack where he was chosen by his peers as Employee of the Month.

Besides his family, one of his greatest joys was taking care of his beloved Dogs—Button, Lacey, Gracie, Molly and Bella. He spent most of his retirement writing short stories about life as a boy in Louisiana and his time in the Air Force. These stories will inspire him to write his greatest accomplishment, his self-published novel Will’s Landing. It is a story about a white Southern man who builds a special friendship with an African American boy, and their relationship throughout the man’s life.

Charles will be greatly missed by his Family and Friends. No formal ceremony will be held. All the Family wishes are prayers to be given in Charles’ memory.
