Charles Edward Gray, age 92, passed away on June 5th, 2024 in Marana, Arizona due to heart failure.
Charles was born on December 18th, 1931 in Columbus, Kansas to parents Fred Gray and Geneva Kauble. He had many adventures living in Kansas, Missouri, Virginia (Washington, DC area), Washington, Arizona, and Asia.
His life journey was one of service and commitment. Charles proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (a Korean War Veteran). His patriotic spirit led him to a distinguished career in the United States Government, where he dedicated 42 years of service until his well-deserved retirement. In addition to his federal service, Charles also devoted his time to the Falls Church, Virginia Police Department, further exemplifying his commitment to his community and nation.
Beyond his professional life, Charles was known for his warm personality and the perpetual smile that brightened the days of those around him. His kind and loyal nature made him a cherished companion. In his leisure time, Charles enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing computer card games. He had a unique ability to engage with everyone he met, loving the discussion of interesting stories, leaving lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of his company.
Charles will be dearly missed by all who knew him, as he touched many lives through his service and genuine disposition. He is survived by his sons: Edward W Gray (of Marana, Arizona) and Stephen W Gray (of Burke, Virginia), his grandchildren: Brianna M Gray (living in the U.K.), Alyssa L Gray (of Burke, Virginia), and Colby E R Gray (of Fairfax, Virginia), sister (and brother-in-law): Judy and Tom Dahl (of Texas), and nieces: Ann Cassell (of Pittsboro, North Carolina) and Brenna Allen (of Ocean City, Washington).
