Charles Murphy Griffin passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, in Brandon, MS. He was 84 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11:30. Interment will follow the service in the Garden of Memories.
Charlie was born on July 21, 1939, to Miles Griffin and Hattie Lou Tucker Griffin in Jackson, MS. He was raised in the Linwood Community in Philadelphia, MS and lived in Florence for the past 30 years where he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Charlie retired from McCarty Holman after 30 years of service. Charlie enjoyed playing poker and was an avid bowler. He loved playing golf and watching football.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Griffin (2009); brother, Billy Joe Griffin; and son, Charles Dale Griffin. He is survived by his children, Patsy Gale Davis (Bobby) of Brandon, MS, Rhonda Nell Thornhill (Rodney) of Shreveport, LA, Belinda Gail Dilmore (Stacey) of Florence, MS, Jeff Gordon (Becky) of Star, MS, Randy Gordon of Florence, MS, and Kenneth Gordon of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, William Shine Boyd, Danielle Dear, Shannon Brown, Aaron Beard, Jeremy Gordon, Kristen Fitzgerald, Molly Musgrove, Talon Gordon, Clayton Dilmore, Dakota Dilmore, and Haleigh Mann; 26 great grandchildren; and sister, Ann White (Tommy) of Pelehatchie, MS.
