State College, Pennsylvania - Charles Raymond Grimm, 91, of State College, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2025.
Born in 1933, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and warmth. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he not only defended his country but also played baseball for the Air Force-a testament to his lifelong love of the game.
Following his service, Charles earned a bachelor's degree in Business from West Virginia University before embarking on a distinguished career in banking. After completing the Mellon Bank apprenticeship program in Pittsburgh, he rose to become the Senior Vice President of Mellon Central Bank. A natural leader and a friend to many, he was respected for his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering work ethic.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charles found joy in simple, meaningful moments. He loved planting flowers and spending time outdoors, particularly at his cabin-a cherished retreat where family and friends gathered year-round. His passion for woodworking and his knack for craftsmanship reflected his patience and creativity.
Charles was a man of deep compassion, always ready with a kind word or helping hand. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength that will be carried on by all who knew him.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and cherished wife of seventy-one years, Jean Grimm, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion; his sister, Diane Phillips (Dave Phillips); his two children, Barbara Grimm Curley (William Curley) and Bruce Grimm (Lori Grimm); eight grandchildren, Lisa Curley, Jenna Rush, Bradley Hansen, Kayla Grimm, Kristina Grimm, Lucas Grimm, Ashley Gamble and Erin Thor; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, David W. Grimm; his mother, Anna Marie Havanis; his brothers, David Grimm, Thomas Grimm, and Robert Grimm; his nephew, Victor William Grimm; and his great-granddaughter, Florence Elizabeth Rush.
Visitation will be held from 11 – 12pm on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A service to honor and celebrate Charles's life will follow at 12pm with Pastor Greg Kohlhepp officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Hall Cemetery following the service.
A memorial service will follow at 2pm at the Park Forest United Methodist Church, 1833 Park Forest Avenue, State College.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Forest United Methodist Church in his memory.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the lives he touched.
