Charles "Charlie" Hamilton, 86, passed away on November 10, 2023, peacefully in Bradenton, Florida after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born April 11, 1936, in Port Chester, New York, Charlie was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Charlie was a Navy Veteran and extremely proud to have served his country. He loved playing cards and rummikub and doing Sudoku puzzles; he loved playing solitaire and other card games on his computer; fishing and the ocean. He also loved going to the movies and out to eat with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful and loving husband.
Charlie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Janet and Charles Hamilton and his son, Donald Witzen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his son, Andrew; his daughters, Cheryl, Andrea and Valerie and grandsons, Robert (Kruger), Ryan (Kruger), AJ (Hamilton) and Ryan (Hamilton). Charlie leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Over the years, as his Alzheimer's progressed, he remained steadfast in his Christian faith and love for family. He refused to let his illness cheat him from enjoying time with his family and friends, or from taking trips, or his first ever cruise to the Caribbean with his Alzheimer's support group.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on the water in Vero Beach, Florida. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family invites you to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Charlie's honor.
