Charles Carl Hammerschmidt

Mr. Charles Carl Hammerschmidt, age 74, of McMinnville, TN passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1950 in Monticello Township, IL. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 until 1972. While serving, he earned his Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Sharp Shooter badges. Aside from serving in the Army, he worked in the automotive business at Yorozu. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Carl Hammerschmidt and Bertha Viola Guffy Hammerschmidt, wife Martha Loraine Hammerschmidt, infant daughter, and sisters Mary Lou Mostyn and Ann Swearingen. Survivors include step-son and wife Steven and Diana O'Neill, brother and sister-in-law John (Nancy) Hammerschmidt, 5 step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Mr. Hammerschmidt's cremated remains were buried next to his beloved wife Martha Loraine Hammerschmidt at Mt. View Cemetery.
