Charles "Bill" William Harmening, Sr.

Charles William "Bill" Harmening, Sr., 88 of Franklin passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025.

He was born on April 13, 1937 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Maurice and Charlotte (Renner) Harmening. He married Wilma (Dukes) Harmening on May 18, 1963. She preceded him in passing in February, 2016. Bill is survived by children, Julie Tinkle (Parvin), Annie Reynolds (Jeff) and Charles "Bill" Harmening, Jr. (Tina); grandchildren, Britt, Lyndsay, Jordan, Kelsey, T.J. (Emily), Tony (Kylie), Katie, Jeffrey, Brad (Elizabeth), Brooke (Lexi), Kyle, Bobby (Kim) and Andrea. Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren and sisters, Margaret Ann Hillan and Mary Clare Strack. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Wilma; daughter, Theresa Harmening and siblings, Frances Harmening, Robert Harmening and Thomas Harmening.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Cathedral High School. Bill served in the Army Reserves for six years from 1960 to 1966.

He was employed by Link Belt for forty-five years where he worked in shipping and receiving and served as manager for six years, prior to retirement. After retiring, Bill later worked in real estate for several years with his wife, Wilma.

He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Shiloh Community Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Bill enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques and trinkets. He enjoyed volunteering at the fairgrounds. Bill loved animals, enjoyed watching NASCAR and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, December 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin, Indiana 46131. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Johnson County, 3827 N. Graham Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131.

The family would like to extend they're thanks to the many friends, family, and to the Main Street Hospice for the care and compassion provided to Bill at the end of his life.
