An excellent athlete, he played many sports in school and continued playing softball in senior leagues until shortly before his retirement. He participated in a senior softball team and won the national tournament championship in the 55+ division, senior softball association, world masters in 2010. An avid reader, he had a lifelong passion and great knowledge of history. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the years, both in and out of the United States.

Honesty, humility, responsibility, dependability, generosity and caring for others before himself were only a few of his many qualities.

He loved his family, my family, many friends and will be greatly missed.

Chuck and I were best of friends and team-mates in school. We took a road trip along with Dave Lindner the summer after high school graduation. We went through Nebraska stopping at my grandparents before heading to the Black Hills. Our first stop was at a little tavern because we heard the drinking age in SD was 18. Turned out you had to be a SD resident for that to apply! God rest your soul my friend and may your memory be a blessing to us all! God's comfort to his family.
