Charles M. Haynes, Jr., 75 of Newark, DE passed away the evening of Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Broomall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. His nurse, Annette, was by his side comforting him as he took his last breath.
Charlie was born in Charleston, West Virginia on October 25th. He was the first-born son of Beulah (Portz) and Charles M. Haynes, Sr. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Mildred Haynes.
He graduated from South Charleston High School and West Virginia Institute of Technology. On December 31, 2011, after more than 42 years of dedicated service to DuPont, and 39 years of dedicated service to Engineering, Charles M. Haynes, Jr., Design Supervisor-Engineering Mechanical Systems Design & Development, had elected to retire from the DuPont Company. At the Belle Plant in WVA in 1969, Charlie began his career. In 1972, he came to Engineering at Louviers Site in the Mechanical Design Group and was involved in a variety of Fibers & non-Fibers projects, including being the lead mechanical designer for the green field Cronar photographic quality film project in Florence, SC supporting Polaroid. Being recognized for his strong contributions, Charlie was moved into Supervision in 1990 and continued to be a champion for Engineering Design.
He immensely enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and going to the cabin in West Virginia with his buddies, Steve, Bert & Rex.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Giordano) Haynes; his children their spouses, Stephanie and Seth Andrews of Newark, Charles M. Haynes, III of Newark, DE and Jessica and Steve Hartsock of Smyrna and Christopher Haynes of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren, Samantha Allie, Justin Peter, Logan Matthew, Lauren Elizabeth, Jordan Charles & Sean Ashton; his brothers and their wives, David and Glenda Haynes of Hurricane, WV and Kenneth and Brenda Haynes of South Charleston, WV and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 AM at St Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Road Newark 19702. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
