Charles E. Hempel, 96, of Tannersville, passed away on Friday October 31 at the Stroudsburg Post Acute Nursing & Rehabilitation, Hamilton Township. He was the husband of the late Janet L (Bosk) Sadlon-Hempel, who died October 5, 2017.
Born August 28, 1929, in New York City, NY the son of the late Flora (Panzer) and Otto Hempel. He was an active member of St Paul Lutheran Church, Tannersville.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a Professional Mechanical Engineer
US Army Veteran who served in the Korean war.
H loved Traveling, Target shooting, reading, volunteering at the church, and home projects
Charles leaves behind 5 children - Sheryl Hempel, Dave Sadlon, Paul Sadlon, Paula Zwolenik and Craig Hempel,
6 Grandchildren- Kristina, Jamie, Paul, Ethan, Austin, and Mackenzie
and 2 great grand children
Preceded in death by a son Gary Hempel and a grandson Christopher Hempel
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 11, 2025, at 10:30am at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 158 Fish Hill Road, Tannersville PA with Vicar Roger Ruggles officiating.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, New Jersey.
The Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of his arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be mad in Charles’s name to St Paul Lutheran Church.
