Charles David Hetrick

David was born in Detroit MI in 1939. He is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan (BS Engineering 1962), where he met his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Chase Hetrick. David began his career at the inception of the computer industry with General Electric and worked in a number of midwestern cities including Detroit, Chicago and St. Louis. In 1976, he moved his family to Boston to join Prime Computers and subsequently led a networking startup. He was recognized for excellence at bringing to market innovations that were not just technically sophisticated but highly impactful to businesses and end users. A passionate Boston Celtics and lifelong Michigan Wolverines fan, David also enjoyed tennis and golf. After retirement, David and Carolyn traveled extensively together, with memorable trips to Africa, Thailand, and India and moved to Arizona to enjoy more golf and warm weather. In Arizona, David was active in the community, serving on the Board of Ballet Arizona and as President of the Terravita Golf Club. A creative thinker and gifted storyteller, David was loved for his sense of humor, bringing family and friends together to laugh at the bizarre and absurd. He is survived by his wife, his son John David Hetrick, his daughter Cheryl Lynne Hetrick Ball, his granddaughter Lysa Cardenas-Velez and his grandson Chase David Hetrick.
