Charles "Charlie" Grey Hobson, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023, at Novant Health. He was born to the late Rev. Claude H. and Jamie Norman Hobson. He grew up in East Bend, NC and graduated from East Bend High School in 1953. Charles worked for Leinbach Machinery for 27 years. He started his own Farm Equipment Business in August of 1982. Charles lived a life of integrity, loved his work traveling and meeting people and forming special bonds of friendship. One accomplishment that he was pleased with was learning to fly a Cessna 172 airplane. He loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Beck's Baptist Church. Charles served in the United States Army in Korea, where he was in charge of vehicle maintenance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Hobson Steelman (Roy) and Lunda Hobson Honeycutt. Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Kathleen "Kay" Davis Hobson; two sons, Gray Hobson, Jr. (Teresa) and Michael Hobson (Lauren); one brother, Rev. David K. Hobson (Rausie) and three special granddaughters, Katie Law (Doug), Eva Hobson and Ila Hobson.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023, at Beck's Baptist Church, 5505 Beck's Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 with Rev. Bobby Vaughn and Rev. David Renegar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
