Mr. Charles Rainey Hodge, 88, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in the Chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA, with Bro. Troy Fripp and Rev. C. J. Yarbrough officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00PM. Burial will be at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:00PM Thursday following the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Wilson, Michael Wilson, Curt Welch, Bryan Crowden, Pete Weber, and Brian Weber. The Honorary pallbearer will be Shorty Gibson
Mr. Hodge was born October 11, 1935, in Buena Vista, GA, to Henry C. and Eva Johnson Hodge. Over the years, Mr. Hodge attended several churches. Most recently, he enjoyed attending Shema Baptist Church. He worked at Friedman’s Jewelers for many years, traveling around the country for the company. Mr. Hodge was employed Tyler Automotive in Buena Vista for 22 years before his retirement. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He served honorably in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Boyce Hodge, Nell Henderson, Richard Hodge, and Dixie Gibson.
Mr. Hodge is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Dale Richard of Plains, GA; six grandchildren, Jesse Wilson, Michael Wilson, and Abigail Brunson (Anthony), Joshua Richard, Allen Richard, and Tabitha Richard; two great-grandchildren, Lizzie Brunson and Liam Brunson; and a special nephew and caretaker, Shorty Gibson. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive.
