Charles Franklin "Charlie" Hoffman, 88, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Newark, Delaware. Born on May 30, 1937, in Nescopeck, PA, Charlie was known for his dry humor and meticulous nature, qualities that endeared him to many throughout his life.

Charlie graduated as valedictorian from Nescopeck High School in 1955, setting the stage for a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and excellence. His professional career was largely spent at the DuPont Company, where he worked as a lab technician for 45 years. Beyond his official duties, Charlie managed the company's softball teams, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.

An avid sports enthusiast, Charlie not only played softball but also dedicated 40 years to umpiring for the Newark National Baseball League and other organizations in New Castle County. He was a respected member of the DSUA umpire association. His love for sports extended to bowling and passionately supporting his children and grandchildren's sporting and school events.

Charlie leaves behind his beloved wife, Jeanette Hoffman (née Carden); his brother, Robert Hoffman; his daughter, Kathy Erisman (Jeff); and his sons, Daniel (Patricia) and Mark (Tina). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Josh Erisman, Alexandra Berry, Jordan Erisman, Nick Hoffman, Jaime Hoffman, Lauren Hoffman, Brandon Hoffman, and six great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Hoffman, Sr.; his mother, Marie Hoffman; and his sisters, Barbara Cashman and Sharon Diehl.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 28th, 2025 from 10AM-11AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service for Charlie will begin at 11AM. Interment to follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19805.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Food Bank of Delaware, 222 Lake Dr., Newark, DE 19702 or https://www.fbd.org/, honoring Charlie's lifelong commitment to community support.
