Charles Dana Hoskin, known lovingly as Dana, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, surrounded by family in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was born on July 10, 1960, in Bay Village, Ohio, to Joy Hoskin (née Everhart) and Charles "Skip" Hoskin as the fourth Charles in his family line. His father's geology career took them across Texas, Mississippi, Wyoming, and Florida before Dana embraced Alaska as home. He lived in Ketchikan and Anchorage before settling in Fairbanks, where his heart took root. Dana met Jodi Cabe in 1979 and they married in 1988. They had four children-Ashley, Charles Gregory, Katelyn (Katie), and Jessica. They briefly moved to LaGrande, Oregon where he bought, built, and raced his first race car before returning to Fairbanks. After his marriage to Jodi ended in the nineties, Dana met his beloved partner, Darcy Green, sharing twenty-eight years in her North Pole home that he painted "Darcy Yellow", a color he created at Spenard Builders Supply. Dana's passion for fishing showed through his work at Maurice Sporting Goods, where he shared expertise and joy, helping others land the big catch. A thrill-seeker, considered an icon amongst his peers as they compared him to Evel Knievel. Dana would race anything from go-karts to mini-bikes in his youth and muscle cars as an adult, competing briefly in Oregon during the family's eighteen-month stay and at Fairbanks' Robert Mitchell Memorial Raceway. He inspired all four children to race. Despite a jet-ski accident in his early thirties causing chronic pain, he embraced the outdoors, living most of his life in the Interior surrounded by the greatest group of friends-truly family. Dana's life was marked by his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought through hobbies and interactions. His legacy as a true Alaskan, filled with laughter and adventure, will be cherished by family, friends, and all who knew him. He is survived by his four children, Ashley, Greg, Katie, and Jessica, Jodi Rosauer (née Cabe), 3 granddaughters, his beloved partner, Darcy Green, and his sisters, Rosamond Schupp and Paula Armijo.
