Charles L. Johnson, 91, of Jamestown, ND, passed away, Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.
On July 28, 1933, Charles was born to Lawrence and Mary (Buckwalter) Johnson at the family farmstead in Windsor, ND. Charles attended Cleveland Public Schools, graduating in May 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in November 1954, and graduated from basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He was stationed in Guam with the 28th A&E Maintenance Squadron (SAC). His primary duty was serving as a tail gunner mechanic. He was honorably discharged in January 1956.
After his Air Force service, he then went to work for his father on the parent’s dairy farm. Charles married Mary Nystrom in July 1958, and they had four children (Sherry, Charles Jr., Teressa, and Michael). Charles and Mary divorced in 1973.
Charles was a sheep shearer for 30 years. He later married Mavis Wyantt, and they were together for 24 years prior to her passing in 2003. He married Carol Rose, and they were together for two years, until her passing in 2005. He married Rosemarie Jasmann, July 4, 2007. They have been married for the last 17 years. During this time, they have enjoyed farming, going to auctions, and spending quality time with their extended families.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Rosemarie and his 11 children, Sherry (Blaine) Jacobs; Teressa (Jeff) Eyler, Michael Johnson, all of Jamestown; Arnold Jasmann, Glendive, MT; Daniel (Dawn) Jasmann and Malena Jasmann, of Jamestown; Gregory Jasmann, Lake Park, MN; Anthony (Carla) Jasmann, Gladstone, ND; Maureen (Sherwin) Wanner, Maurice (Cherryll) Jasmann, both of Mandan; and Bernadette (Bruce) Eckman, Detroit Lakes, MN.
He leaves behind three brothers, David (Mary) Johnson, Concrete WA, Clarence Johnson, Coos Bay, OR; and Terrance (Deborah) Johnson, Windsor, ND, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents (Lawrence and Mary Johnson), wives Mavis and Carol, a son (Charles Jr.) and one great-grandchild, Evelyn Raeann.
VISITATION: Wednesday, January 15, 2025, 5-7pm, Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, with a public prayer service at 7pm.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, January 16, 2025, 10am, Basilica of Saint James Catholic Church, Jamestown.
INTERMENT: Thursday, January 16, 2025, Mandan State Veteran’s Cemetery, 3pm
