Charles Jones Obituary

Charles Hunter Jones

Jun 13, 1933 - Aug 18, 2024

Mr. Charles Hunter Jones was born on June 13, 1933, to the late Grace Rosen Baldwin and Charlie Washington Jones in Dillwyn, VA, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 18, 2024, at the age of 91. Charles grew up in Keezletown, VA, and Richmond, VA, where he met lifelong friends Ronnie Pugh, Helen Showalter, and Frances Derrer. He looked forward to his phone conversations with Ronnie and treasured their friendship for almost 80 years. At 18 years old, he married Ardenia Ann Clodfelter on July 3, 1952. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage until she passed in 2022. He served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean conflict. Charles and Ardenia lived most of their lives in Winston-Salem, NC. He began his career at Piedmont Airlines, where he worked for 35 years. They were members of Forsyth Park Baptist Church for 50 years where he served as Deacon. Their treasured friends at Forsyth Park have been such a blessing. Due to declining health in 2021, they moved to SC to live with their daughter and her family. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Dean Jones and his wife, Ardenia C. Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Deena Jones Kane and her husband, Bill of Simpsonville, SC, and grandchildren, Kristin Kane Eller (Regie and son Kabe), Madison Kane, and Robert Kane (Morgan).

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tom Southern officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Miranda Horton for her excellent care of Charles and Ardenia for the three years they lived in SC, his caregiver Beth Walker, Brushy Creek Post Acute, and Amedisys Hospice. Memorial gifts in Charles' honor may be sent to Forsyth Park Baptist Church, 1600 South Hawthorne Rd, Winston-Salem NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.

I remember Mr. and Mrs. Jones very well. They lived across the street from my parents where I grew up in Winston Salem. They were very kind and caring people. My thoughts and prayers are with Deena and her family.
