OBITUARY
Charles "Chuck" Keyserling, 81, of Canton, GA (via Rockville, MD), passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024. He was the loving husband of Ellen Keyserling for 57 years, father of Abby Tomberg (Paul), Jodi Keyserling (Andrew Hensler) and Michael Keyserling (Kevin Walsh), grandfather to Joshua (16), Addie (11), Frankie (3), Hugo (3) and Miles (1) and brother to Rosalyn Taratoot. He will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, dad, Pop-pop and brother. Chuck was born on July 31, 1942, in Port Clinton, Ohio, followed by short stints in Chattanooga, TN; Tokyo, Japan; El Paso, TX; and White Sands, NM before his family settled in Huntsville, AL. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Ben, and numerous Keyserling men before him, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He went on to have an over four-decade-long career with the National Security Agency (as he called it, the Department of Defense), earning the second highest government award for civilians. Despite numerous requests, his family never knew exactly what he did at work, literally, taking these secrets to the grave. His favorite "job" of all was being Pop-pop. He absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren! He was brilliant and had a mind for puzzles and computer games of all kinds. Chuck loved playing bridge with friends and was an ardent fan of his Baltimore Orioles. He was dedicated to his community, serving as the president of the Norbeck Meadows Civic Association for many years and delivering food for Meals on Wheels. He was a reserved person, often better with computers than people, but you couldn't get him to stop talking if it was about speed bumps, deer, diabetes or his grandchildren (among other topics). He was preceded in death by his father, Ben, his mother, Josephine, and his sister, Marcia. The Funeral Service will be held graveside at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, 2000 Marietta Blvd, NW, on Sunday, July 14th at 2pm. Shiva will follow the service beginning at 4:30PM and continue on Monday, July 15th after 11am at the home of Abby and Paul Tomberg. You can also join the service virtually via Zoom at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87082292638?pwd=VtFfZhU1KnbgRTQL1LsolQ5zJHemJD.1.
