Charles Grady Leitzsey, 77, of Newberry, widower of Susan Rowe Leitzsey, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at his home.
Born on April 23, 1948, in Pomaria, he was a son of the late George Grady and Tillie Christine Cromer Leitzsey. He retired from the Newberry County Public Works and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Charles is survived by daughters, Tina Leitzsey of Newberry, Nan (Jeremy) Spicer of Prosperity, Lory (Jeff) Wicker of Pomaria and Tomi LaChance of Union; a son, Chuck (Melody) Leitzsey of Pomaria; a brother, Earl (Gayle) Leitzsey of Newberry; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeff O’Dell. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Leitzsey, 2637 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria Friday evening May 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
