Obituary of Charles W. Lisa

Charles W. Lisa

September 24, 1924 - August 2, 2025

Charles was born in Corona, NY on September 24, 1924 to Joseph and Julia Lisa. He was the oldest brother to Joseph F. Lisa and James C. Lisa. Charles attended P.S.14 and Newton High School.

When WWII broke out, Charles enlisted at the age of 17, with his mother's permission, into the U.S. Marine Corps. Charles completed his "boot camp" training at Paris Island, South Carolina and spent the next 20 years in the Corps rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. During WWII he served in the South Pacific, and later in Korea.

Charles received numerous awards, medals, and citations for his service, including the Purple Heart.

After so many years of service, Charlie returned home and began working at Jaguar motors, where he worked for many years. After Jaguar, Charlie was then appointed to the Queens County Clerk's Office from where he retired.

Charlie enjoyed painting, crafts and photography and was an accomplished world traveler especially enjoying cruises in his later years. Charlie's faith was also very important to him and he found comfort reading his prayer books, attending mass and supporting many Catholic charities.

Charlie was considered a very special and loved uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.

Charlie's love of family and friends found him attending all holiday gatherings and celebrations, and he never forgot that he was a United States Marine.
