Charles Junior McCracken

Charles Junior McCracken, affectionately known as Charlie, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. Born on August 18, 1951, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late David Junior McCracken and Alice Lee Cuddy McCracken. Charlie lived a life marked by humility, kindness, and a genuine warmth that endeared him to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A proud graduate of Abingdon High School’s class of 1971, Charlie dedicated an impressive 51 years of his professional life to Dutt and Wagner, where he built a career distinguished by diligence and integrity. Throughout his lengthy tenure, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike. Charlie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 38 years where he enjoyed fellowship and worship.

Charlie’s personality was marked by a gentle humility and kindness; he was a man truly loved by all who crossed his path. His simple pleasures brought him great joy—he treasured going on car rides, finding solace in the open road, and in his younger days, he delighted in fishing, savoring the quiet moments beside the water.

In addition to his parents Charlie is preceded in death by three siblings, Teresa Marie Rash, Betty Ann Robins and Jerry Alan McCracken.

He leaves behind a loving family and dear friends who will carry his memory forward with fondness and reverence. His beloved wife of 43 years, Sharon McCracken, stood steadfastly by his side through life’s many seasons. He is also survived by his brother, David McCracken and his wife, Barbara, and sister, Eva Louise Murray and her husband Kim. Special friends Lori Wagner Campbell and Charles Nelson who was like a son to him, were treasured companions who enriched his life in countless ways.

The community will have an opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Charlie’s life at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel, located at 427 E Main St in Abingdon, Virginia, 24210. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Bro. Darrell Watson officiating. The burial will take place at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Randy Doss, Charles Nelson, David Fulton, Dennis Arnold, Claude Henderson and Dakota Hess. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bise, Allen McNew, L.C. Combs, Members of Trinity Baptist Church and Shane Watson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ryan Shao and his sweet nurse, Christy for the wonderful care they provided to Charlie.

Charles Junior McCracken’s legacy of kindness, steadfastness, and gentle spirit leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by family, friends, and the community he called home.
