Charles Richard McDowell, affectionately known as Chuck, was born on February 5, 1948, in Frankfurt, Germany, and passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. He lived a life full of passion, creativity, and a deep love for those around him.

Chuck's career was a tapestry woven from many threads; he worked in sales across a multitude of trades, sharing his engaging personality with everyone he encountered. Beyond sales, he was a talented musician, an artist with a vivid imagination, and an accomplished photographer and quilter, showcasing his artistic flair in every endeavor. His talents were as diverse as they were profound, reflecting a man who embraced life with open arms and a joyful heart..

Chuck graduated from Versailles High School followed by attending Trade School. His education was not just confined to traditional learning; he was a quick learner who picked up skills and wisdom throughout his life, enriching the lives of those around him. Chuck traveled with his family growing up with a father in the armed force. He found himself with his family in a new place every 3 years in both Europe and America.

A hallmark of Chuck's personality was his kindness and outgoing nature. He was truly a "fisherman of people," drawing them in with his warmth and faith. His loyalty to his loved ones and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Those fortunate enough to be part of his life experienced his smart and loving spirit, which he conveyed through myriad ways, whether it was through a heartfelt song, a beautiful piece of artwork, a helping hand or simply a smile that brightened the day.

Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Rebecca "Becky" McDowell, his beloved son Larry Robert "Bob" McDowell, and his granddaughter Shayla McDowell. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and many dear friends who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenwood and Ethyl (Campbell) McDowell, and his brother Larry Robert "Bob" McDowell, who now watch over him with pride and love.

Charles Richard McDowell will always be remembered for his zest for life, his unwavering faith, and the indelible mark he made on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the art created, and the love that continues to bloom in the lives he touched so deeply.
