Charles William "Chuck/Chuckie" Merriman II passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2025, at the age of 47, leaving behind a family and community that will forever feel the weight of his absence. Born on November 15, 1977, in Wichita, Kansas, to Chuck Merriman Sr. and Beverly Merriman of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, Chuck lived life loud, loved fiercely, and touched countless lives along the way.
On October 18, 2014, Chuck married his wife Jenn, who stood by his side through life's highs and lows. He was also a proud step-dad to Brianna Carter and her spouse Kelby Carter; Kylie Wilson and her significant other Larry Cameron; and Matthew Wilson and his wife Hannah Wilson; all of Purdy, Missouri.
Chuck was the kind of man you couldn't help but love. He was a devoted husband, father, son and Poppy, a man who worked tirelessly to provide for his family through the trucking business he and Jenn built together. He loved telling stories, making people laugh, and was always ready to lend a hand when someone needed it. Those who knew Chuck will remember his big heart, his humor, and the way he could light up a room with his presence.
To his family, Chuck was many things: Son, Poppy, Dad, Husband, Buddy, Sweet man. He was the kind of man who would come get you at 2 a.m. if you couldn't drive home, who kept his grands all at once without hesitation, who filled gas tanks, checked tires, and reminded everyone that yes, the type of oil does matter. He was the man who always paid the dinner bill, who sang with a voice that surprised everyone, and who showed up when it counted most.
Chuck had a heart that ran deep. His stepdaughter, Bri wrote: "You will be remembered as the sweet man you were, nothing less… the first stepdad that stuck it out. Didn't put up with my mess, but always there for me when it mattered. My babies miss and love you always."
Chuck was also a trucker through and through. He proudly drove his KW W900 and was known as a bull hauler, putting down miles and hauling livestock with grit, humor, and dedication. His friends will remember the long nights on the road, the stories that went sideways, and the brotherhood of trucking that will never be the same without him.
Through both the heavy burdens and the joy he carried, we rest in the promise of Scripture:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28
Chuck is survived by his wife Jenn; his parents, Chuck Sr. and Beverly Merriman of Rocky Comfort; his sister Crystal Johnson of Rocky Comfort; his stepchildren; his sweet grands: Owen and Ellen Antill, Grace and Jolene Cameron, and Logan, Arlo, and Wryn Carter; and his niece Mindy Jo Johnson and her significant other Zach Creson of Newtonia, Missouri, along with their children Spencer Johnson and Dilah Creson. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, many friends, and his sweet furbabes: Gus, his bestest fur friend, along with Resse, Zava, Margo, Norma Jean, and Hicks.
He is preceded in death by his sweet twin girls, Haliey Marie and Holly Dawn; his paternal grandparents, Pappy Bill and Grandma Carol Merriman; his maternal grandparents, Pappy Jim and Grandma Betty Fullerton, and Grandma Ferne Bear; his Aunt Liz; and his Uncles Bryan, Bruce, Jim, and Doug.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 206 East 5th Street, Pineville, Missouri, with lunch to follow.
