Charles Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2024.
Charles "Charlie" Edward Miller, born on October 6, 1945 in Largo, FL, passed away on July 20, 2024. He was the son of William Edgar and Mary Lee Miller. Charlie graduated from Largo High School in 1963, and continued his education at St. Petersburg Jr. College, where he excelled in basketball and graduated in 1965. He furthered his studies at the University of Mississippi, earning his degree in 1969.

Charlie began his career with JCPenney as a manager-trainee in Jacksonville, FL, at the downtown JCPenney store. It was here that he met his wife Camille Kornegay in January 1971. Charlie and Camille were married on September 11, 1971. After moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1973, Charlie and Camille welcomed their first son, Charles E. Miller II, in 1976 and their second son, Donald R. Miller in 1979. In 1981, Charlie and his family moved to Atlanta, where he worked out of the regional office for JCPenney. In 1988, JCPenney relocated its corporate office to the Dallas area, and Charlie moved with his family to McKinney, TX. Charlie retired from JCPenney in 2004-marking 30 years with the company.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, William Edgar Miller; his mother, Mary Lee Miller; and his brother, Buddy Miller. He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-two and a half years, Camille Kornegay Miller; his sons, Charles E. Miller II (Liz) and Donald R. Miller (Jami); and his six grandchildren, Chase, Daniel, Ian, Joanna, William, and Alex Miller.

A service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held at First Methodist Church in McKinney on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
