Charles (Chuck) Miller Jr., 74, husband, father ('Pops'), grandfather, brother, uncle and a lot more, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by his wife of 49 years, Pat; his three sons, Jason, Brandon, and Shaun; and daughter-in-law Jackie. He will be greatly missed.
Chuck was a family man, entrepreneur, avid golfer, and car enthusiast. His entire career was spent in the auto industry, where he got his start working in car dealerships, eventually opening his own business, Statewide Auto Auction, in 1981. Here, he taught his three sons the importance of hard work and the value of a dollar. He retired in 2013 and eventually settled in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL in 2017.
His family fondly remembers him as a jokester – mischievous and lighthearted in even his final days. Before getting married to his wife and love of his life, Pat, he promised her she would never be bored – and boy, did he live up to his word. They built a beautiful life together, raising three sons and over a dozen dogs, and sharing their time between Madison, CT, and North Windham, VT, where they embraced their love of the outdoors – swimming and pool parties in the summer, and snowmobiling and being cozy by the fire in the winter.
His sons inherited his wacky sense of humor, as well as his handiness, fondness of cars and racing, and love of golf. He also taught them many other lessons, a few favorites being: your name and reputation is everything; if you're going to do something, do it right the first time; and the importance of a perfectly manicured lawn.
He is survived by his wife Pat, his three sons, Jason, Brandon (Yami), Shaun (Jackie), grandchildren Ryley and Beckham, brother Rich (Barb), and brothers-in-law Rich (Becky) and Kevin (Shirley), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. and a Celebration of Life at 1:30 p.m. at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish in Tavares, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Howey in the Hills Garden and Civic Club at PO Box 24 Howey in the Hills, FL 34737.
