Charles William “Bill” Mitchell, 89, of Forest Hill went to be with the Lord on
Monday November 11, 2024. Born March 17, 1935, in Forest Hill West Virginia, he was a son of the late Claude Charles and Vesta Belcher Mitchell.
He married the love of his life, Ramona Cathryn Kessler, on January 20, 1958,
in Hinton, West Virginia and they celebrated 64 years together in Forest Hill
where they raised their three children and were blessed with the addition of five
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bill graduated from Forest Hill High School and went on to serve in the Army
and Army National Guard. After returning from active duty in the Guard in
1962 he drove a truck hauling rock dust and coal, operated a backhoe and was
a farm equipment mechanic. In his spare time he loved operating his sawmill
and farming. He retired from the Summers County School System after driving a
bus for many years.
He was actively involved with his church, Fairview Baptist in Forest Hill. He
enjoyed teaching Sunday school, serving as deacon and supporting and
participating in several missionary trips. Bill’s photo albums are full of many
special memories made while travelling and camping with his family and
extended family, the Farley’s and Mashburn’s of Youngstown, OH. Family get-togethers today still reminisce Cape Hatteras, Maggie Valley and “learning to
canoe” at Lake Moomaw.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ramona Cathryn
Mitchell; his daughter, Patricia Mitchell Young; brother, James Mitchell and
wife Helen; sister, Eula Sheets and husband Al; along with brothers-in-law,
Bill Kessler, Bart Doring and Stanley Farley and wife Betty.
Bill leaves his children; Billy Brian Mitchell and wife Kathy of Forest Hill,
Keith Mitchell and wife Debra of Beavercreek OH; and son-in-law Jeff Young
of Forest Hill; grandchildren, that he loved very much, Christopher Mitchell and wife Amber of Hinton, Jason Mitchell of Charlotte NC, Sarah Mitchell of Beavercreek OH,
Michelle Lucas and husband Justin of Forest Hill and Samantha Mitchell of
Beavercreek OH; great-grandchildren, Preston Mitchell, Hannah Lucas and
