Charles W. Mitlevic, affectionately known as Chuck, was born on May 19, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Aurora, Illinois. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, Chuck's life was defined by his love for family, a fun-loving spirit, and a sense of duty to his country as a Navy veteran.
Chuck dedicated 35 years of his career to International Truck & Engine holding numerous positions from purchasing to production, from which he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. He was not only a respected figure in his professional life but also a proud board member at the American Legion Post #1080 in Joliet, manifesting his commitment to supporting fellow veterans and the community.
A man of many interests, Chuck found joy in fishing and boating. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and had a passion for living life to its fullest alongside his family and friends. Whether it was an afternoon spent on the water or cheering on his favorite baseball team, Chuck approached life with enthusiasm and warmth.
Chuck's family was the heart of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Susan, and his cherished children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his daughter, Melody (Johnathan) along with their daughters, Ashley, Lexi, and Haley. He is also survived by his son Charlie (Sarah) who are parents to his granddaughter Mila. Additionally, his son Vince, along with granddaughters Maya and Avery, added to the joy that filled his life. All six of his granddaughters brought him immeasurable joy.
Chuck is also remembered by his sister Linda, who shared countless memories with him throughout their lives. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Theresa Mitlevic, and his brother Mike Mitlevic, both of whom he cherished deeply.
The community is invited to celebrate Chuck's life at St. Gilbert Catholic Church located at 301 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030. Visitation will take place on March 12, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment services will be at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetary in Trevor, WI following the mass.
In honoring Chuck's spirited and giving nature, those who knew him are encouraged to gather together and reflect on the countless memories he created with so many. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever remember him as a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and son.
