Charles Joseph Morrison, 97, a resident of Denham Springs, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.
Charles was born on December 9, 1928, in Bayou L’Ourse, the son of Charlie Walter Morrison and Aline Arcemont Morrison.
Charles served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Japan, then joined the Air Force immediately after to serve in England. He was a Lifetime Member of the Morgan City chapter of the VFW. His career as an offshore boat captain spanned over 45 years and was highlighted by his crew running training missions to retrieve a mock space capsule.
He loved to bike around the neighborhood and often came home with ‘treasures’ he’d find along the route.
Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara Morrison; three children: Leland J Morrison (Michelle), Bonnie Morrison Verrett, Larry Morrison (Peggy); 9 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Aline Morrison; eight siblings, Lily Mae Tabor, Ethel Hebert, Gloria Wiggins, Clara Bailey, Juanita Bailey, Wanzie Mary Richard, Hilda Gaudet, and Andrew Morrison.
Pallbearers will be Leland Morrison Jr., Jacob Morrison, Alex Verrett, Tyler Morrison, Justin Morrison, and Nicholas Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held, Monday, March 30, 2026, at Twin City Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Charles will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
