Charles Muth Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 25, 2026.
Charles Muth, age 81, of Lake Orion, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his home on February 22, 2026, after a courageous thirty-one year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on January 14, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Chuck was the beloved son of Mildred and Charles Muth Sr. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School, where he formed lifelong bonds with his siblings and developed the quiet strength and resilience that would define his life.

Chuck was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country with honor during a tour in the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he completed his degree in computer science and began his career working in a field he loved. Chuck built a long and respected career in information technology, contributing his expertise most notably within the health care industry, leading an early launch of electronic data interchange. Chuck's work was marked by dedication, integrity, and a genuine desire to improve the systems that support patient care.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering perseverance, quick wit, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and the memories shared by all who knew him.

Chuck was a man of many passions and memorable moments. He looked fondly upon his days coaching youth soccer and relationships with these players and their families that he cherished into lifelong friendships. Chuck also loved the movie's Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and trips to the Woodward Dream Cruise to hear engine sounds from the classic Mustangs he adored with a smile. Music by Neil Diamond and Bob Segar was the soundtrack to many of his days.

One of Chuck's perfect days would have been to spend the day fishing for largemouth bass, a peaceful activity that brought him boundless joy. He was known for his catch-and-release philosophy, always reminding friends and family to "release the fish so you can catch them again next year."

Chuck's warmth, humor, and zest for life left an impression on everyone who knew him. His stories, laughter, and love will be cherished forever.

DeAnne and Chuck were high school sweethearts who grew into lifelong partners, parents, and devoted grandparents known affectionately as "Gigi and Papa." Their traditions of annual family trips became a hallmark of their love-opportunities for "Papa" to show, in his gentle and steadfast way, just how deeply he cared for his wife and family.

Some of Chuck's most treasured memories were made at the family cottage in Pinckney, Croton Dam, the Western National Parks, Traverse City, the Outer Banks in Corolla, NC, and the warm temperatures of Southwest Florida.

Chuck had a gift for patience and a heart for teaching. He shared his skills with anyone willing to learn, especially his two children, six grandchildren, and niece and nephews. Impacting all their lives in many ways. His lessons were never just about the activity; they were about character, care, and the quiet pride he took in helping others grow.

Chuck was a family man. Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, DeAnne; his children, David (Amanda) and Melissa (John); and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Payton, Madeline, John, Abigail, and Kathryn. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Muth, Doug Muth, Kathy Matthews, and Sue Somero, and his brother-in-law Michael Zast, who remained important to him throughout his life.

Chuck was preceded in death by his brother Randy Muth and by his parents, Charles and Mildred, along with his brother-in-law Bill Zast.

Above all he loved his family and friends deeply who will carry his memory forward with pride and love.

A celebration of Chucks life will be held on May 2nd, 2026, where family and friends will be invited to gather for a mass at Christ the Redeemer in Lake Orion, followed by a Military Salute, and a lunch.
