Charles Orgaz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations on Feb. 20, 2026.
Charles Orgaz, age 90, passed away on February 18th, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares, Florida. He was born on August 11th, 1935, in New York City, New York to the late Bella and Charles Orgaz Sr.

On April 8th, 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary Orgaz (Johnson). Together they shared 70 devoted years of marriage filled with partnership, family, and adventure. Their love was the foundation of everything he built in his life.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years during the Korean War, where he was a member of the Atomic Annie crew. He was also a talented athlete, playing football throughout high school and continuing to play during his time in the Army.

Following his military service, Charles began a career with Goodyear, where he worked for over 30 years. Through dedication and hard work, he rose through the ranks and eventually retired as Head of the Commercial Division.

Charles had a deep love for travel and adventure. He and Mary enjoyed exploring the world with their family, and he proudly accomplished his goal of visiting nearly every continent - missing only Antarctica. After retirement, he and Mary relocated to Tavares, Florida, to be closer to their sons and their families.

Never one to sit still, Charles embraced an active and social retirement. He enjoyed lawn bowling, card groups, and participating in multiple boat clubs, including serving as Commodore of the Triangle Boat Club for many years. He also served as President of the local chapter of the ROMEOs and maintained a full social calendar that reflected his love of friendship and community.

Charles entered eternal rest and was reunited in heaven with his beloved son, Steven Orgaz, who preceded him in death. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mary; his son, Stuart Orgaz, and his wife, Nancy; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Orgaz; his cherished grandchildren, Kristin Reichwein and her husband, Douglas; Matthew Orgaz; and Lauren Espinosa and her husband, Marcos; and his two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Adriana Reichwein, whom he loved so very much.

Charles will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, leadership, and the deep love he carried for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the memories he created.
