Charles Leroy Perry, age 88, passed away on April 4th, 2023. Born October 29, 1934, to the late Roy and Thelma Perry in Batavia, OH. Loving husband of almost 42 years to Joyce (nee Clark) Perry. Beloved father of Jeremiah (Jill Price) Perry, Charles Jr. (Uschi) Perry, Linda (Eugene) Eldridge, Teresa (Tony) Head, Karen (Jeff Fritz) Scarborough, and Tom (Betsy) Scarborough. Cherished Grandfather of 13, Great-Grandfather of 24, and Great-Great-Grandfather of 2. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proceeded by his 3 Brothers, Calvin, Robert, and William Perry.
Charles had long career spanning 3 different jobs over 40+ years. The most important to him and his family though was grandpa. He was always there to help his grandkids and spoil them, sharing with them his love of sports, cheering for both the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Cincinnati Reds. His early career was as a Staff Sargent in the US Army, heroically serving his country, and earning him 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts for his devotion to his fellow comrades. He would then become a private chef for many families throughout Cincinnati. He was a deacon at Calvary Alliance Church, becoming good friends with the late Pastor David Robinette, and sharing his hobby of gardening with the congregation by planting and taking care of the plants surrounding the church. Charles and Joyce also enjoyed traveling, going everywhere from beaches to mountain ranges, taking time to hike and relax. The Tennessee mountain town of Gatlinburg was one of his favorite places to be.
