Charles Pickles, age 89, of Centralia, IL passed away Thursday, June 11, 2025, peacefully in his home.
Charles was from Southern Illinois, but lived and spent most of his life in Chicago. He worked as a painter and interior decorator for many years.
Charles is survived by two children. His daughter, Charlotte, who he lived with and was very close to and who also took care of him for the last few years. He passed with Charlotte by his side and his grandson, Colton Thomas, by his side. He has a son, Charles Pickles (Chuck) who lives in Kentucky whom he was very proud of. He has a son he raised as his own from seven months old, Robert Canada. Charles was very proud of his children an always let them know he loved them. Charles has many grandchildren he was very proud of. Charles is also survived by one living brother, Tom Pickles, of South Dakota, one sister, Nora Markum, of Harrisburg, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews he loved.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy, and father, Charlie Pickles as well as his brother, Paul Pickles, and one sister, Betty Pickles.
Charles loved everyone and had a loving personality. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He spent 9 years with his wife and the mother of his 2 children, Margaret Wright, whom he remained friends with. He spent 42 years with his lifelong partner, Vada Canada, whom preceded him in death and he dearly missed.
The family kindly asks you keep them in prayers as the grieve his loss. There will be no services held at this time.
