Charles Pigg Obituary

Colonel Pigg passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019. In his civilian career, he was an Auburn University Forestry graduate and employed by the Alabama Forestry Commission as Assistant State Forester. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Les Snodgrass and Rev. Carl Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elmore County Humane Society, 255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL 36092.

Charles Pigg was a born manager. He was highly organized, disciplined, and well informed. He was dedicated and committed to the organization and its reputation. He was all about keeping the organization running efficiently and smoothly. He was "the" contact within the organization for questions regarding procedure. Always the gentleman, polite, and courteous, he could also be demanding and holding high standards for himself and the employees. He was the manager in the book, "The Mind of a Manager and the Soul of a Leader".
At 5:30 PM that day when he left my office after dark, he had no idea he would return that day, but when I called him to tell him our office had been struck by the local visiting tornado, he turned around to offer his assistance.
Charles Pigg we honor you and will miss you.

I worked with Mr. Pigg many years ago when Forestry was under Conservation and then had the pleasure to work again several years later after Forestry Commission was on its own. He was a good friend and a great man to work for. He will be missed so much by all. May God bless all of his loved ones!

I worked with Mr. Pigg for sixteen years at the AL Forestry Commission. He was such a kind and caring man. I learned alot from him. Prayers for his family and friends.

So sorry for the loss of Mr Pigg. I was fortunate to have worked under his leadership as Assistant State Forester for the AFC. He was an honorable and fair person. Such a nice and friendly man.
