Mr. Charles Orville "Duppy" Ricketson, age 87, of Denton, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning, January 1, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center with his family by his side following a recent decline in health.

Duppy, as he was affectionately known by friends and family alike, was born June 23, 1938, in Coffee County to the late Robert Ricketson and Fannie Lott Ricketson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was well known for both his carpentry skills and his gardening abilities. He attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Duppy was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Vilas, Ivella, Waymon, Dorothy, Ruby, Nell, J.M., R.T., Juanita, and Mary Alice.

Duppy leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Dorothy Virginia Taylor Ricketson of Denton, Georgia; 2 children: Randy Ricketson and wife, Dana, of Broxton, Georgia, and Teresa Charles and husband, Bill, of Plant City, Florida; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Arletha Tate of Denton, Georgia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Duppy's family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon, January 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. His funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Joey Andrew officiating, and interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Jimmy Ricketson, Donnie Ricketson, Jarad Ricketson, Marcus Ricketson, Andy Tate, and Jamie Tate.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Emory Tate and Ray Ricketson.
