Born: August 27, 1936 in Peru, IL
Died: June 7, 2025 in LaSalle, IL
Charles E. Ritter, 88, formally of Utica, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery, Tonica with Rev. Marc Strand, officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp and the Tonica American Legion. The Patriot Guard Riders will be in attendance as an Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby.
Charles was born on August 27, 1936 in Peru to Virgil and Bertha (Rowe) Ritter of Lowell. He attended Tonica High School. Charles was a veteran of the United States Marines and served during the Korean War. He was a proud lifetime member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Alamagordo, NM; three daughters, Sherry (Ron) Acosta of Fontana, CA, Susy Ritter of Oglesby, Andrea Walters of Lynchburg, TN; two grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Weatherly and Kaity (Chris) Teason; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte; and his best friend who was like a son, John Urbino Jr. of Oglesby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Marge (Trede) Ritter.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle or the Marine Corps League National Headquarters, P.O. Box 1990, Stafford, VA 22555-1990.
