Charles Roach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel - Columbia on Dec. 22, 2025.
Charles Lewis Roach, 72, of Columbia passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center.

Charles, known to his loved ones as Charlie, was born on November 2, 1953, in Carrollton, Missouri to the late Orland DeWitt and Charlotte Florene (Bates) Roach.

Charlie grew up in Carrollton, Missouri where he was a football player and wrestler in high school. He moved to Columbia, Missouri for college and attended the University of Missouri where he earned an Associates in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business. Immediately after college, he worked at Orscheln where he was a CAD/CAM manager for many years. He moved on to become a manager at 3M in Laser Engineering and ended his career as a Postman in Hartsburg and Ashland, Missouri. He loved to spend his free time with his children and grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud of. He was the best dad and papa there ever was. He was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. You could find him any given Sunday watching the games with his children. Weird Al Yankovic could always be heard on any stereo of his. He was known as Santa to many and loved his suspenders. He was active in the community volunteering at the Columbia Senior Center of Boone County, where he served as their accountant, he was the treasurer for Cub Scouts Pack #60 and was on the board of the United Credit Union.

Charlie is survived by his children, Chas Lewis Roach (Krissy) of Columbia, MO, Tabitha Renee Carter of Columbia, MO, and Micah Elias Roach of Columbia, MO; nine grandchildren, Marcus, Noah, Madison, Mackenzie, Yaretzee, Julian, Jeremiah, Declan and Brendan; his sister, Jayne Taylor (Jerry) of Lexington, MO; four nieces and one nephew; his aunt, Patricia Gross of Fayetteville, AR and uncle David Bates of Hutchison, KS; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bobby" Eugene Roach.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Charlie at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 2, 2026, with the family receiving friends at 11:00am and services starting at 1:00 p.m.

In leu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Charlie to Columbia Senior Center of Boone County, 1121 Business Loop 70 E, Columbia, MO 65201.
