Alice Settle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care - Zionsville on Feb. 25, 2026.
Alice Mae Settle, age 85, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully February 19, 2026, at The Stratford in Carmel, Indiana.

Alice was born August 13, 1940, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, the daughter of her late parents, Harry F. Jennings and Nellie Clarabelle Laws Jennings Dicus. She was a devoted wife for 65 years to her late loving husband Keith William Settle and proud mother to surviving sons Bradford Settle (Kelly) of St. Charles, Illinois, Todd Settle (Toni) of Zionsville, Brian Settle (Kathleen) of Carmel, and Samuel Settle (Missy) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She's also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Alice graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, Missouri, where she and Keith were high-school sweethearts. She briefly attended the University of Missouri before getting married, starting her family and becoming the mother of four boys before she turned 30.

She was the glue that held her family together while Keith traveled for work, chauffeuring her boys to all their sporting events and activities, cooking a nightly family dinner and Villing the house with love. She was the family's spiritual leader and an active member of Zionsville Presbyterian Church since its beginning. She volunteered for many ZPC Great Banquets, and donated her time and talents to the Shepherd Community Center and P.E.O.

Alice also was a Boone County Master Gardener, and her garden was featured on a Zionsville Garden Tour. When she wasn't tending to her garden, she was sewing, quilting and needlepointing, creating beautiful wall hangings, pillows and clothing. And when she wasn't crafting, she was walking one of her beloved boxers.

After their boys had grown, Alice and Keith enjoyed traveling the country with friends, including a motorcycle trip to Alaska, and throughout Europe. In their retirement years, they split their time between Zionsville and The Villages, Florida.

Alice's visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St., Zionsville. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Zionsville Presbyterian Church, 4775 W. 116th St., Zionsville, IN 46077 or to your favorite charity.
