Charles Bernard "Bunny" Samuels Sr.

Charles Bernard "Bunny" Samuels, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Montross, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bunny was born to the late Charles Everett Samuels and Pearl Lillian Courtney Samuels. He shared 48 wonderful years with the love of his life, Barbara Ann Quade Samuels. A devoted Christian, Bunny was a lifelong member of Currioman Baptist Church. He worked as a skilled brick mason and took pride in a long, hardworking career.

A true country boy at heart, Bunny loved being outdoors - especially when squirrel or rabbit hunting. He enjoyed tinkering with his collection of old cars and never turned down a good meal, particularly if it included fried chicken, a hamburger, or sardines. He loved the color blue. Bunny also had a fondness for westerns, detective shows, and The Andy Griffith Show. He was the kind of friend who would help anyone in need and was deeply appreciative of those who helped him in return. Above all, Bunny cherished his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Bunny is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Mary Virginia Samuels; son, Charles B. Samuels, Jr.; grandchildren, Charles III, Trevor, Shannon, and EJ; his daughter-in-law, Belinda; his sister, Linda Baker; nieces and nephews, Patty, Dianna, Lisa, Ronnie, and Christina; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Tommy Beauchamp, with whom he spent many happy hours tinkering with cars. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronnie Samuels; and his sister, Margaret Scates.

Bunny's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the team at Riverside Hospice for the loving care they provided during his final days.

A memorial service to celebrate Bunny's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Currioman Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Green officiating. Everyone is invited to wear blue, in honor of this being Bunny's favorite color! That would make his family very happy!
